Lake Isabelle

This Colorado trail is only open for a few months out of the year, but it is worth it. Located west of Boulder in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area, this lake is about 4 miles RT just past the gorgeous Brainard Lake. The elevation is quite high, starting at 10,300 feet (bring extra water!) and thankfully, you can drive right up to the parking lot at Brainard Lake. From there, enjoy the views and get ready.

We did this hike the third week of June, and there was a still a considerable amount of snow in places, as well as much. I bet late July would be gorgeous with wildflowers, taller grass, and warmer weather.

I’d rate this hike’s intensity as a medium. It doesn’t have a ton of elevation gain, about 500 feet, but it begins at over 10,300, thus making it a little harder to catch your breath.

If you would like to have your family or couples or even elopement photos here, let me know!
