Lost Lake Trail

Lost Lake Trail is our favorite trail in Colorado and is nestled off Cottonwood Pass near Buena Vista, CO. The parking lot is nothing more than a pull-off on the side the road that can maybe fit 10 cars, and this hike is nothing short of spectacular. It’s not too difficult, but enough to feel a burn. The end view is worth a million dollars - the most beautiful location I’ve seen on a hike in Colorado!

All photos from this hike are film - Portra 160 in September. Best times to visit this hike are June - late September.

**Currently, this trail is closed due to restoration, and hopefully, it’ll be open starting in summer 2023! I looked at the Forest Service maps of the project, and it happens that they will be creating a parking lot and a new route. I don’t know if this gorgeous original route will still be available, but I will update this page when I find out!
